What is an Anaethesist?

  • An anaesthetist is a specialist doctor who provides anaesthetic care before, during, and after surgical and medical procedures. Their responsibilities include assessing a patient's health to determine the most suitable type of anaesthetic, administering and monitoring the anaesthetic to ensure the patient's safety and comfort, and managing any pain or complications that may arise.

What to ask your Anaesthetist

  • Before your procedure, our team encourages you to ask about the type of anesthesia planned, the medications involved, and any potential risks. You’ll also learn how you’ll be monitored, what to expect during recovery, and how to manage pain and nausea. Be sure to clarify fasting instructions, current medications, and when you can safely return to normal activities
