Supporting the Wairarapa Community
in the Past, Present and the Future
Your Health, Our Priority

Selina Sutherland Hospital has a long history of partnership with the Wairarapa community. This connection to our local people is what drives our current and future plans.

We are dedicated to ensuring that our community has access to quality specialist healthcare services, close to home. We aim to provide a service that not only meets the needs of local people now, but anticipates and provides for future generations. As we look to the future, we will be excited to welcome even more specialists, from a range of specialities and disciplines.

Some examples of how we partner with the community currently;

- Established Outsourcing Contracts for Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and Endoscopy with Health New Zealand National Procurement Team to help reduce Surgical Waiting Lists in the Public Sector.
-
We have been actively growing our current range of in-house services and resources to include additional specialties
-
We have prioritised contracting local businesses such as Architects, Project Management, and Construction companies for our future plans
-
With each stage of development, we offer recruitment opportunities across a wide range of health, admin and support service roles
-
We actively contribute to workforce development in the region by offering placements to nursing students
-
We have recruited a Maori Health Advisor who we are consulting with to help inform current and future initiatives

Selina Sutherland Hospital has a long history of investing in the health of the local community - having made major investments into theatre and biomedical equipment for the Wairarapa Public Hospital to the value of over $700,000, in addition to smaller projects that improve access such as the provision of First Aid Kids for Local Marae and donations to other health- related community initiatives.
Today, Selina Sutherland Trust is a 40% shareholder in Selina Sutherland Hospital, and continues to provide a significant charitable contribution to the community. The Selina Sutherland Trust's earnings are re-invested into our local community, across a range of health priorities, helping improve health quality and access to healthcare in our region.
